Faso is located in West Africa. It is a landlocked nation
surrounded by six countries: Mali, Niger, Benin, Togo, Ghana,
and Cote d'lvoire. This country was formerly called the Republic
of Upper Volta and renamed on August 4, 1984.
Population: 13,228,000
Currency: West African CFA franc
Tools such as scrapers, chisels, and arrowheads were
discovered in 1973 which lead to the belief that Burkina was
populated between the 12000 and 5000 BC by hunter-gatherers in
the northwestern part of the country. Based on farmer's
structures, it proved that settlements of farmers appeared
between 3600 and 2600 BC.
In 1960, Burkina Faso gained independence from France and
underwent many governmental changes arriving at a
semi-presidential government.
